Travel

By plane: The best option is to fly directly to Timișoara. Please access the Timisoara Airport webpage for more information about the flights and the connections with the airport. The International Airport of Timișoara (TSR), located at 10 kilometers from the city centre, is offering direct flights to Bucharest, Munich, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Cluj-Napoca and Iași  (provided by TAROM and Lufthansa), Paris-Beauvais, London-Luton, Brussels-Charleroi, Dortmund, Frankfurt-Hahn, Munich West-Memmingen, Bari, Bologna, Rome, Treviso, Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia  and Tel Aviv (provided by Wizzair – a low-cost company).

The second option is to fly to Budapest, then take the shuttle (Recreation) or a train (the travel should last approximately 4 to 6 hours, either way).

The third option is to fly to Bucharest, then take another flight to Timișoara or reach it by train or by bus.

By train: It takes 3 hours to reach Timișoara by train from Belgrade (Serbia), 6 hours from Budapest (Hungary) and about 8 hours from Bucharest (Romania). For information about domestic trains please access the Romanian Railways website. For international train connections all over Europe, please access the Austrian Railways website. Look for "Timisoara Nord" railway station.

By car: As Timișoara is situated in the western part of Romania, maybe it is easier to travel by car, especially if you come from Serbia, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia or Austria.

From Vienna to Budapest take the highway M1, pass M0 round Budapest, then take the highway M5 to Szeged. Before Szeged you have to quit the highway and take M43 up to Mako/Arad/Bucharest. You will pass the border at Nagylak 2/ Nadlac 2 and continue in Romania by the highway M1 towards Timișoara. After 30 minutes of driving and passing near Arad, you take the exit “Timișoara", and continue on the national road 691. Next, going near Giarmata and through Dumbrăvița, you will enter Timișoara and continue to the center of the town.
